Overview:
Okra Bhindi Durgesh Nandani is a high-yielding variety known for its robust growth and excellent adaptability to different climates. Originating from India, this variety is appreciated for its tender pods, which are widely used in culinary dishes across South Asia and beyond. Okra has been cultivated for centuries, with historical mentions dating back to ancient Egyptian agriculture. The product is listed as the Durgesh Nandani okra selection.

Plant Characteristics:
The Durgesh Nandani variety produces vigorous plants with strong stems and deep green leaves. The pods are slender, glossy, and dark green, typically growing to a length of 12 to 15 cm. The plants exhibit a consistent growth pattern and begin fruiting approximately 50 to 55 days after sowing. This variety is known for producing uniform, tender, and flavorful pods that remain soft even when harvested slightly late.

Taste and Benefits:
The pods have a mild, slightly sweet flavor with a pleasant mucilaginous texture, making them ideal for frying, boiling, or adding to soups and stews. The pods are commonly cooked in curries, stir-fries, soups and stews.

Cultivation Recommendations:

• Soil: Okra thrives in well-drained, loamy soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.8.
• Planting: Sow seeds directly in the ground once the soil temperature reaches 20°C or higher. Space seeds 30 cm apart in rows with a row spacing of 60 cm.
• Watering: Maintain consistent moisture levels, ensuring the soil does not dry out completely. Overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot.
• Sunlight: Full sunlight is essential for optimal growth and high yield.
• Harvesting: Pods should be harvested when they are young and tender, typically at a length of 10 to 15 cm. Frequent harvesting promotes further fruiting.

Durgesh Nandani okra is versatile in its culinary applications. It is commonly used in stir-fries, curries, and stews. Its pods are used in a range of cooked dishes.
