Quercus semecarpifolia is an accepted species in the Fagaceae family. Kew records its native range from eastern Afghanistan through the Himalaya and neighbouring parts of Asia to northern Thailand. It is a temperate tree commonly known as kharsu oak or Himalayan brown oak. Mature plants form a substantial crown and carry firm, leathery leaves that may remain on the tree through much of the year.
Sowing guide
