Black Quinoa Seeds — Chenopodium quinoa

Choose a packet of 50 or 300 seeds of Chenopodium quinoa, the annual crop known as quinoa. This lot is sold as black quinoa. The colour name identifies the offered seed lot, while plant height, maturity and harvested seed colour may vary with genetics and growing conditions. Seeds are supplied for planting; no plants are included.

Sowing

Sow directly into a sunny, well-drained bed after severe frost risk has passed. Scatter or drill the small seeds shallowly, press them into fine soil and cover only lightly. Water with a fine spray and maintain even moisture during establishment without saturating the bed. Thin seedlings once they can be handled.

Care

Keep young plants free from competing weeds and provide good airflow. Water during prolonged dry periods, then avoid unnecessary moisture as seed heads mature. Temperature, day length and rainfall influence flowering and seed set, so no fixed harvest date, yield or colour uniformity is promised.

Storage

Keep unused seed labelled and sealed in a cool, dry, dark place. Protect it from humidity, heat and storage pests.
