Tobacco Seeds – Spectr (Spectrum) (Robust Nicotiana tabacum Variety)
The Spectr (Spectrum) tobacco is a carefully bred Nicotiana tabacum variety, developed from the hybridization of Kerty x Krupnolistny 38 x Zheltolistny 36. Originating from the picturesque Zakarpattia region, this Burley-type tobacco is a medium-late ripening variety known for its resilience, adaptability, and high-quality leaves. Spectr combines traditional traits with modern enhancements, making it a valuable choice for both commercial and artisanal cultivation.
Description and Characteristics:
• Plant Structure: A cylindrical-shaped plant reaching approximately 1.4 meters in height. It features a symmetrical structure that promotes uniform growth and maximizes yields.
• Leaf Quality: The variety produces 24–26 sessile leaves with an oval-shaped blade. The leaves are light green, gradually whitening across the blade as they mature, signaling readiness for harvest.
• Size: The mid-tier leaves measure 50 cm in length and 30 cm in width, providing a generous yield per plant.
• Ripening Period: This medium-late variety ripens in approximately 72 days, ensuring efficient and timely harvests.
• Flower Color: A delicate pink flower adds aesthetic appeal during the growing season.
• Resilience: Highly drought-resistant and tolerant to adverse weather conditions, making it an excellent choice for growers in challenging environments. While resilient to unfavorable weather, it has moderate disease resistance and requires attentive care to minimize risks.
Flavor Profile:
As a Burley-type tobacco, Spectr delivers a balanced, mild flavor with nutty and earthy undertones. Its smooth, clean-burning characteristics make it ideal for both smoking and blending.
Cultivation Guidelines:
1. Seed Germination: Sow seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Press seeds lightly onto the soil surface without covering to allow light for germination.
2. Soil Requirements: Spectr thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. Enrich the soil with compost or organic matter to enhance growth and yield.
3. Sunlight and Watering: Provide full sunlight for optimal development. Maintain consistent moisture in the soil but avoid overwatering.
4. Harvesting and Curing: Harvest leaves as they mature, beginning with the lower ones. Cure in a shaded, well-ventilated space to bring out the leaf’s smooth flavor and characteristic aroma.
