About this seed
Sudangrass Seeds: A small packet of warm-season Sorghum grass seed for trial growing. Sudangrass and sorghum–Sudan types are vigorous annual grasses used in cover-crop and forage systems.
Also known as: Sudangrass, Sorghum-sudangrass, Sudanka, Sorgho du Soudan, Pasto sudán, Sorghum sudanense and Sorghum drummondii.
Important Identity Note
The packet label says “Sorghum Sudan grass” but does not state whether it is pure sudangrass or a sorghum–Sudan hybrid. This description uses conservative group-level guidance and does not claim a specific hybrid, forage analysis or livestock suitability.
Product Details
- Plant group: Sorghum warm-season annual grass
- Use: Small growing trial or cover-crop demonstration
- Packet: 10 seeds
- Scale: Not enough for pasture- or field-scale sowing
How to Grow
Sowing: Sow after frost danger has passed and soil is warm. A practical agricultural reference depth is about 1.3–2.5 cm (½–1 in), adjusted for soil moisture and texture.
Position: Choose full sun and well-drained soil. Keep evenly moist during establishment.
Spacing: For a 10-seed trial, space individual plants for observation instead of copying a field seeding rate. Mature habit varies between pure sudangrass and hybrids.
Safety for Livestock
Do not feed, graze or make hay without local agricultural advice and appropriate forage testing. Sorghum, sudangrass and hybrids can present prussic-acid and nitrate risks, especially in young growth or after drought, frost, heavy nitrogen use or other stress. These seeds are not sold as a tested low-prussic-acid forage cultivar.
What You Receive
One labelled packet containing 10 Sorghum/Sudan grass seeds. Seeds only; forage, plants and livestock-feed certification are not included.
